Time steadily flows like an ice cap melting in the rays of summer. Each individual snowflake melts, loosing its original "one of a kind" structure and becomes a small part of a much larger stream. Working as a whole the water is able to flow effortlessly from the top of the Rockies, across the entire nation, and into the deepest depths of the darkest oceans. As we begin remember the water cycle in grade school, I cannot ignore the perfection of this metaphor when applied to life.
I was very young when I learned to swim. Its not easy to do at first, sometimes kicking, flailing, doggy paddling, and screaming aren't enough to keep you afloat, therefore we result in other means of emerging; life vests, floaty toys, and gripping the side of anything for dear life.
The water has the power to quickly drown us in its rapid swirling white bubbly gut. Water also has the guidance to take us downstream to a completely different element of experience. In order to let water carry us, we must let go and have faith that we will not drown.
Many of us are afraid to let go and be carried. We have no confidence in our swimming abilities although we are completely qualified at the palm paddling arts. For many of us, we prefer to stay dry in the confines of a homemade boat.
Constructing a boat is not as easy as it would seem. The bow and hull of the ship must be steamed and bent to form the curved red rover beetle, on his back shape. The sails must be very large to attract even the slightest whisper of wind. Constructing a boat is serious full time business.
Sailing allows us to reach our destination in much better physical and mental shape that otherwise. Those who never let go, many of which are oblivious in the first place, stagnate in there own pool of consciousness for their whole lives. Those that are aware will sometimes try and pirate your yacht and steer you upstream.
Having a boat puts you in complete control and grants you the ultimate gift; you.
peace and love in the new year.
