I would like to take this time to identify a "myth" that has recently circulated through the news as truth and perhaps a very, very large threat. On Sept. 15th, a giant fireball streaked across the night sky of Peru. The next day, a large watery crater was discovered by local residents near the town of Carancas. At first experts dismissed the connection because the crater didn't look like a meteorite impact. But since then minds have changed.
According to Peter Brown of the University of Western Ontario, "Without reservation this is definitely a meteorite." In addition to being a professor at University of Western Ontario Peter is also a member of the Western Meteor Physics Group. He studies small bodies of the solar system with particular emphasis on meteors, meteorites, meteoroids, and asteroids. Brown Continues, "We found infrasound data recorded by a station in La Paz about 70 km away. From the size of the the air wave we can work out the kinetic energy of the impactor--about 0.03 kton TNT."
"Something like 20 to 30 kg of the meteorite have already been recovered, but odds are good a multi-ton monster lurks at the bottom of the crater," he continues. "The bad news: It is below the water table, the rainy season is coming and unless some action is taken ASAP, the rock will quickly oxidize and crumble. We are digging for seismic data of the actual impact--the first actual seismic recording of a terrestrial meteorite impact!" Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people in Peru have needed treatment after visiting the crater. The most common complaints have been of headaches, vomiting and nausea after inhaling gases. But some experts have questioned whether it was a meteorite or some other kind of object that landed in Carancas.
On the flip side, According to Dr Caroline Smith, a meteorite expert at the London-based Natural History Museum, "Increasingly we think that people witnessed a fireball, which are not uncommon, went off to investigate and found a lake of sedimentary deposit, which may be full of smelly, methane rich organic matter. This has been mistaken for a crater."
So what did land in Peru?
I believe its possible for this to be something organic? The bottom line is no one on this planet has any idea what this object was, and now, its affecting the health of humans. This to me is the biggest threat in international security we have ever seen. The ignorance of all of us is back washed and spit in our face for the simple fact that this isn't considered or acknowledged as a serious threat.
Nestor Quispe the mayor of Carancas claims, "Lots of people from the town of Carancas have fallen ill. They have headaches, eye problems, irritated skin, nausea and vomiting. I think there's also a certain psychological fear in the community. This is the water we use for the animals, and for us, for everyone, and it looks like it is contaminated. We don't know what is going on at the moment, that is what we are worried about."
So what are we going to do about it? This could be the beginning of a world-wide epidemic. no one has even quarantined the area to prevent spread of what could be a virus from another world. The fact is nothing is going to be done about it so sit tight and watch it unfold. Our billions of tax dollars are held up at the moment protecting us from a more serious "threat". A "threat" that has not threatened us ONCE in the past SIX YEARS.
